Once you've found your ideal RV and are ready to book it, the checkout process is quick and straightforward. Here are the steps to submit your reservation request and payment.
Step 1: Begin the Checkout process
After you have selected your desired dates and delivery option, click the Review request button to start the checkout process.
Step 2: Confirm Driver information
The first step in the checkout requires you to confirm the driver’s age. This is a crucial step because additional charges or restrictions may apply for drivers under 25.
Step 3: Select Optional trip upgrades
Next, you will have the option to choose from any optional upgrades that you are eligible for, such as Trip Protection and any add-ons offered by the Host for your trip.
You are welcome to add Trip Protection for additional coverage, select as many add-ons as you need, or skip this step entirely if you don't require any extras.
Step 4: Choose Your Payment Plan and Method
Depending on how far in advance you are booking, the "Pay and book" section will offer a choice of payment plans:
- Pay in full now
- Pay part now, part later
Pay In Full Now
You may always choose to pay in full, regardless of the time you book (early in advance or last minute). However, please note that if you book less than 30 days prior to your trip start date, then the Pay In Full Now option will be the only payment option available.
Pay Part Now, Part Later
If you choose to Pay part now, part later (available when booking more than 30 days in advance):
- Initial Deposit: You will be charged a deposit consisting of 50% of the trip cost (the nightly rental amount [booking's nightly rate x number of days], add-ons, extras, Host service items, the Protection Package, and the Security Deposit Waiver, if applicable), along with the full Outdoorsy Service Fee and all taxes associated with these items.
-
Final Payment: The remaining balance, which includes the remaining 50% of the trip cost plus all associated taxes, will be automatically charged 30 days before the start of the trip. A scheduled transaction will be created for this final payment upon booking confirmation.
If the RV listing offers a Security Deposit Waiver, you will see two options under the "Security deposit options" section:
Traditional Security Deposit: A specific amount set by the Host that will be temporarily held on your payment method. Will be released 7 days after return, barring any damage or other deductions at the discretion of the owner.
Security Deposit Waiver: You pay a small fee upfront that waives the larger security deposit hold. This fee is refundable if you cancel pre-departure, but is non-refundable once the trip begins.
In the "Select a payment method" section, you will select how you want to pay:
- You can choose between a credit/debit card or PayPal.
-
If you have travel credits available on your account, you can easily apply them here to reduce your total.
Note: A temporary authorization hold for the full reservation amount will be placed on your selected payment method before your credits are applied. Please see our dedicated guide on How to Use Your Outdoorsy Travel Credits at Checkout for full details.
- You can also enter a gift card or promo code in the "Select a payment method" section.
Step 5: Submit Your Payment Request
Once all necessary fields are completed, click Submit payment. Your reservation request will then be sent to the Host.
- If the Host has Instant Book enabled for their RV, your request will be automatically approved.
- If Instant Book is not enabled, the Host has 24 hours to either accept or decline your request.
