Depending on whether you sold your RV, want to pause your rentals, or want your personal data permanently erased from our databases, Outdoorsy provides distinct options to match your needs: managing your individual listings, deactivating your account, or submitting a complete data removal request.
Step 1: Decide which option fits you
Before deleting an entire account, check if one of these alternatives better matches what you need:
- Temporarily take a break (Unpublish listing): If you are taking time off or doing seasonal maintenance, you can unpublish your rig directly from the Listing details page. This preserves all photos, descriptions, and reviews, but hides the rig from search and blocks new bookings. For guidance on how to unpublish a listing, visit the How do I take down my listing? (Snooze, Unpublish, Remove) Help Center article.
- Sold or traded your RV (Remove listing): If you sold a specific vehicle but still want to use Outdoorsy to rent or host other rigs in the future, scroll to the bottom of the Vehicle tab on your listing details page and select Remove listing. Your Host account and profile stay open. For guidance on how to permanently delete a listing, visit the How do I take down my listing? (Snooze, Unpublish, Remove) Help Center article.
- Step away from Outdoorsy (Account Deactivation): If you no longer want to use the platform, Customer Support can deactivate your account. This pulls all of your listings from public search results while preserving your past rental records and transaction history.
-
Permanently delete your account and all personal records (Complete Data Removal): If you want your personal identity records, Persona driver verifications, and contact info permanently erased from Outdoorsy under privacy laws (such as the CCPA or GDPR), you must submit a formal request to our Trust & Safety team.
Pro Tip: If your goal is simply to stop promotional emails or SMS notifications, you don’t need to delete or deactivate your account. You can:
- Click the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any promotional email
- Reply "STOP" to marketing texts
- Manage your notification preferences directly in your profile while keeping your rental history and reviews intact.

Step 2: Submit your request (deactivate or permanently delete your account & data)
If you decide to have your account deactivated or permanently deleted, follow the corresponding path below. Choose Option A if you simply want to deactivate your profile and remove your listings from search while keeping your history on file, or follow Option B if you need a permanent, formal wipe of your account and personal data under privacy regulations.
Option A: Deactivate Your Account
If you simply want to close down your profile and ensure none of your listings show up in search results, our Customer Support team can deactivate your account for you.
- What it does: Deactivating an account hides your profile and removes all associated listings from Outdoorsy search results.
- What stays: Your underlying transaction history, past trip messages, and account profile remain safely stored in our secure database if you ever decide to return.
- How to request deactivation: Reach out to Outdoorsy Customer Support via phone, chat, or email at support@outdoorsy.com and request account deactivation.
Option B: Permanently Delete Your Account & Data (Complete Data Removal)
If you decide to have your account deactivated or permanently deleted, follow the corresponding path below. Choose Option A if you simply want to deactivate your profile and remove your listings from search while keeping your history on file, or follow Option B if you need a permanent, formal wipe of your account and personal data under privacy regulations.
Pre-requisites for Data Deletion:
Note that prior to any data deletion, your account must have met the following criteria:
No active or upcoming reservations: All bookings (as a Guest or a Host) must be completed or formally canceled.
No pending financial balances: All pending security deposits, Host payouts, damage claims, or account disputes must be fully resolved.
30-day waiting period for recent trips: If you completed a trip as a Guest, your driver verification records (driver's license and Persona selfie images) are subject to a mandatory 30-day waiting period from the date the vehicle was returned. This window allows for Host insurance claims to be processed and safety/regulatory records to be maintained. Once the 30 days have elapsed, the driver verification data can be purged.
How to Submit a Complete Data Removal Request
To ensure your request is routed directly to Trust & Safety without delay:
Send an email directly to deleteaccount@outdoorsy.com from the email address linked to your Outdoorsy profile.
- Set the subject line to: "Permanent Account & Data Removal Request".
- Include a clear description of your request: A short statement confirming you are requesting the permanent deletion of your Outdoorsy account and associated personal data.
Important: Please do not attach sensitive documents (such as driver's licenses, bank numbers, or passwords) to your initial email. We will use the email address registered to your account to verify your identity. If you accidentally reach out from a different email address, or if our Trust & Safety team needs to confirm your identity, they will reply directly to securely request verification details.
What to expect after submitting a data deletion request
Once our Trust & Safety team receives your request, they will review your account. If additional verification or action is required—such as waiting out the mandatory 30-day post-trip window—the team will advise you directly.
Processing Window: Once your request is verified and processed, you will receive an email confirmation directly from Trust & Safety within 24 to 48 hours confirming compliance.
Third-Party / Authorized Agents: If a legal representative or organization is submitting this request on your behalf, they must provide documented proof of legal authority to act on your account.
