Depending on whether you sold your RV, want to take a temporary break, or want your personal data permanently removed from our platform, Outdoorsy provides distinct options to match your needs:
Review the alternatives in Step 1 before closing your account, or jump straight to Step 2 to delete your account.
Step 1: Consider Your Other Options
Before deleting an entire account, check if one of these alternatives better matches what you need:
- Temporarily take a break (Unpublish listing): If you are taking time off or doing seasonal maintenance, you can unpublish your rig directly from the Listing details page. This preserves all photos, descriptions, and reviews, but hides the rig from search and blocks new bookings. For guidance on how to unpublish a listing, visit the How do I take down my listing? (Snooze, Unpublish, Remove) Help Center article.
- Sold or traded your RV (Remove listing): If you sold a specific vehicle but still want to use Outdoorsy to rent or host other rigs in the future, scroll to the bottom of the Vehicle tab on your listing details page and select Remove listing. Your Host account and profile stay open. For guidance on how to permanently delete a listing, visit the How do I take down my listing? (Snooze, Unpublish, Remove) Help Center article.
Stop marketing emails and texts: If you only want to stop notifications, you do not need to delete your account. Click Unsubscribe at the bottom of any marketing email, reply STOP to SMS messages, or adjust your settings directly in your notification preferences. To learn more about Outdoorsy's privacy policies, visit the Privacy Policy Help Center article.
If you have decided to proceed with deleting your account or data, please see Step 2 below.
Step 2: Delete Your Account or Request Complete Data Erasure
If you have decided to leave Outdoorsy permanently, select the path below that matches your goal.
Option A: Delete Your Outdoorsy Account (Instant Self-Service)
Use this option if you want to immediately close your account, remove your payment methods, take down all listings, and stop using Outdoorsy.
Important checks before deleting your Outdoorsy account:
Do not delete your account during an active trip: The system will not block deletion while a rental is in progress. Deleting your account mid-trip immediately locks you out of your account, messages, booking details, and roadside assistance access. Always wait until the trip is completed and the vehicle is returned.
Upcoming trips will be cancelled: Deleting your account automatically cancels all upcoming and pending reservations immediately. Renters receive a full refund, and Host cancellations are treated as owner-initiated cancellations.
Resolve pending balances: Ensure all security deposit refunds, Host payouts, or open damage claims are settled.

What happens next after deleting your account:
Once you confirm your choice, your account is closed immediately across all platforms. Here is what you can expect:
Immediate account closure: Your account is closed immediately, your active session ends, and you will not be able to log back in.
Returning to Outdoorsy: If you ever decide to use Outdoorsy again in the future, you are welcome to sign up for a brand-new account using either your original email address or a different one.
Vehicle listings hidden (Hosts): If you are a Host, all of your listings are immediately unpublished and removed from public search results.
Archived records: Past transaction records, tax documents, and messaging histories are retained in secure backend archives to comply with federal tax, accounting, and legal requirements.
Requesting full data removal: If you want these archived records permanently removed, you can submit a separate data deletion request at any time following your account deletion. Keep in mind that complete data deletion can only be performed once 30 days have passed since your last completed Outdoorsy booking.
Pro Tip: You will not receive an email confirming the account deletion, as the system immediately unlinks your registered email address during the deletion process.
Option B: Request Complete Personal Data Erasure (Complete Data Removal)
Use this option if you want to exercise your legal privacy rights under regulations such as the CCPA or GDPR to have all personal identity records, driver verification images (Persona selfie photos and driver's license scans), and contact records permanently wiped from our databases.
Pre-requisites for complete data erasure:
Note that prior to any data deletion, your account must have met the following criteria:
No active or upcoming reservations: All bookings (as a Guest or a Host) must be completed or formally canceled.
No outstanding balances: All security deposits, Host payouts, claims, and disputes must be fully resolved.
Mandatory 30-day post-trip safety window: If you completed a trip as a Guest or Host, identity and driver verification records are subject to a mandatory 30-day waiting period from your last Outdoorsy booking's vehicle return date. This window allows for insurance claims, damage processing, and required safety compliance. Once 30 days have passed, your identity and verification files can be purged.
How to submit a data erasure request:
To ensure your request is routed directly to Trust & Safety without delay:
Send an email directly to deleteaccount@outdoorsy.com from the email address linked to your Outdoorsy profile.
- Set the subject line to: "Permanent Account & Data Removal Request".
Include a brief statement confirming you are requesting the permanent deletion of your account and personal records under applicable privacy laws.
Important: Please do not attach sensitive documents (such as driver's licenses, bank numbers, or passwords) to your initial email. We will use the email address registered to your account to verify your identity. If you accidentally reach out from a different email address, or if our Trust & Safety team needs to confirm your identity, they will reply directly to securely request verification details.
What to expect after submitting a data deletion request
Once our Trust & Safety team receives your request, they will review your account. If additional verification or action is required—such as waiting out the mandatory 30-day post-trip window—the team will advise you directly.
Processing Window: Once your request is verified and processed, you will receive an email confirmation directly from Trust & Safety within 24 to 48 hours confirming compliance.
Third-Party / Authorized Agents: If a legal representative or organization is submitting this request on your behalf, they must provide documented proof of legal authority to act on your account.
