What can you add to your Outdoorsy Profile?
Filling out your Outdoorsy profile is your first step toward building Guest trust. Since your vehicle is a high-value asset and Guests are looking for safety and reliability, how you present these fields matters.
-
Personal Info: Update your personal info here.
-
Legal name: This is used for internal verification and insurance purposes. Enter your real name. They're used across the platform for messaging, booking confirmations, and your public profile. Use the fields below to enter your real name:
- First name: Ensure that your legal first name is entered
- Last name: Ensure that your legal last name is entered
- Military Host: If you’ve served, please let us know! Toggling this on displays a badge on your listing. Outdoorsy loves recognizing our heroes, and for many Guests, it signals a level of discipline and reliability that’s hard to beat.
-
Profile photo: Skip the sunglasses and the blurry distance shots! Use a clear, smiling photo of yourself (and your family or pups, if you like). Folks feel a whole lot better handing over their hard-earned money when they can see the friendly face behind the listing.
How to do it: Head to the right-hand side of the Profile tab. Hover over your initials, click the "..." icon, and hit Upload.

Legal name: This is used for internal verification and insurance purposes. Enter your real name. They're used across the platform for messaging, booking confirmations, and your public profile. Use the fields below to enter your real name:
-
Email address: This is your lifeline for booking updates.
Pro Tip: Add
@reply.outdoorsy.coto your "safe senders" list so you don't miss a single message. -
Phone number: Essential for SMS alerts.
Note: If this is missing, critical services like Roadside Assistance or Trip Insurance might not activate correctly.
- Outdoorsy display name: This is your public "handle." We recommend your first name or something like "The Smith Family Adventurers" or "Adventure Dave." Most folks prefer renting from a person rather than a faceless corporation.
- About me: This is your elevator pitch. Don't just say you like camping. Mention why you share your rig, your favorite local hidden gems, and your commitment to cleanliness/safety. (e.g., "We've traveled 15 states in this van and want others to feel that same magic!")
- Address: This is for taxes, service, insurance eligibility only. It stays private, so don't worry about folks seeing your home base.
- Cover photo: Pick an "aspirational" shot. A photo of your rig parked at a scenic overlook or a quiet lake sells the adventure way better than a photo of it sitting in your driveway.
-
Settings: Update your time zone and default currency settings via the fields below.
- Time zone: Double-check this! If it’s off, you might accidentally "ghost" a Guest by thinking their 10:00 AM check-in message arrived at midnight.
- Default currency: Sets how you and your Guests see prices and, more importantly, how you get paid.
-
Password: Keep it secure, keep it secret!
Cybersecurity Tip: Treat your password like your RV keys—don't leave 'em under the mat! Use a unique passphrase with special characters rather than your personal info, common words, or birthdays. It’s much harder for a computer to crack but easier for your brain to remember.
Avoid reusing the same password you use for your email or bank; if one gets compromised, you don't want the "keys to the whole ranch" falling into the wrong hands.
Why a Pro Profile is your best move
On the open road, a little preparation goes a long way—and it’s no different here. Taking a few minutes to polish your profile isn't just about lookin' good; it’s about signaling to every Guest that you’re a reliable, top-tier Host who doesn't cut corners.
From lock-tight insurance activation to faster payouts, a complete profile clears the brush so you can focus on what really matters: sharing the spirit of adventure and keeping your calendar full.
-
Seal the deal with trust
Think of your profile like a virtual handshake. Our data shows that Guests are much more likely to hit that "Book" button when they can see exactly who they’re renting from. When you skip the "About Me" or the photo, folks might get nervous. A warm, complete profile turns a "maybe" into a "let's go!"
-
Keep your protection solid
This is a big one, y’all: Missing info can silently break your insurance. If your phone number, address, or birthdate are missing, critical services like booking notifications, Roadside Assistance, and Damage Protection might not activate. We don't want you—or your Guests—stuck on the side of the road without backup. Keep those fields filled so your coverage stays rock-solid.
-
The path to a Superhost status
Want more eyes on your listing and the ability to charge premium rates? That Superhost Badge is the gold standard. While a full profile is just the start, it’s the foundation of a professional hosting business. It tells the world you’re a pro who pays attention to the details.
-
Claim your military honors
If you’ve served our country, we want to brag about you! Toggling on your Military Host status adds a badge to your listing at no cost. It’s a powerful signal of integrity and reliability that a lot of Guests truly respect.
-
Don’t leave money on the table
There’s nothing worse than losing a booking because a notification got lost in the wind. Ensuring your email and phone are 100% correct means you’ll get every request the second it drops. Don’t let a typo stand between you and your next rental.
