Connecting a new bank account
The process for connecting a bank account for U.S. Hosts is different from how Non-U.S. Hosts connect theirs. To ensure a smooth setup, please refer to the specific connection workflows below.
Bank account connection for U.S. Hosts:
Log in: Jump onto Outdoorsy.com or open up the Outdoorsy Host app.
Find your settings: Tap your avatar or initials in the top-right corner and select Account.
Navigate to Payment Info: Once you're on the Account page, head over to the Payment info tab and hit that Connect bank account button.
Enter account details: A modal will pop up—just confirm your billing country and your bank account type (whether you're an Individual, a Sole Proprietorship, or a Corporation).
-
The Plaid Connection Flow: Click Continue to be redirected to the secure Plaid interface.
-
Click Get started and search for your bank by entering its nameNote: If you cannot locate your bank account from the list, you may follow the steps from the Manual bank account connection for U.S. Hosts: Using account numbers section below for guidance on how to connect your bank account using its account number.
- Select your bank from the list or search for your institution.
- Enter your bank’s online login credentials to authenticate the connection.
- Select the specific account you wish to link (e.g., a checking account) and click Continue.
- Once the "Success" notification appears, click Continue to return to Outdoorsy.
-
- Complete the setup: After the Plaid flow, acknowledge the notification that more information is needed and enter the account owner's first and last name to finalize the process.
Manual bank account connection for U.S. Hosts: Using account numbers
If your bank cannot be found, you are having trouble with the automated login, or you simply prefer to use your account information, you can connect manually:
Access the manual flow: In the Plaid search bar, type "null" or scroll to the bottom of the list and select Link with account numbers.
Enter routing and account numbers: Provide your routing number, then enter your account number twice to ensure accuracy.
Classify your account: Select whether the account is Personal or Business, and specify the account type (Checking or Savings).
-
Authorize micro-deposits: Enter the account owner’s name exactly as it appears on your bank records and click Authorize. Plaid will send two micro-deposits to your account to verify the connection.
Note: Authorizations for micro-deposits do not appear immediately. After you've authorized one, remember that you'll need to wait up to two (2) business days for them to appear. Do not repeat the authorization process while one is pending — doing so will create a duplicate authorization, which may cause issues from your financial institution's end.
-
Final Verification (Manual Method Only): Micro-deposit authorization verification
Wait for Deposits: The module will close, and you will need to wait up to two business days for the micro-deposits to appear in your bank account.
Confirm Amounts: Once the deposits arrive, log back into Outdoorsy, navigate to Payment info, and select Confirm on the pending authorization.
Verify: Enter the exact amounts of the two deposits in the Plaid window and provide the account owner's first and last name one final time to complete the link
Pro tips:
The Fast Lane: If you’re setting up for the first time, look for a shortcut in the Today's activities section of your dashboard.
Device Troubleshooting: If you have trouble connecting on a mobile device, try using a computer instead.
Bank account connection for Non-U.S.
Fill out the form: Click Continue to open the Bank account connection form, where you'll need to enter your personal and bank information.
Confirm the connection: Once all the bank account connection form fields are filled out, click Save to confirm and link your account.

My dashboard says I need to migrate my bank account. Why and how do I do that?
The need to migrate bank accounts is specifically for our U.S.-based Hosts who connected their accounts before December 2020. Just like upgrading your rig for a smoother ride, we’re moving our U.S. community over to a faster, more reliable payment system powered by Plaid and Modern Treasury.
If you’re still cruising on our legacy Stripe connection, it’s time to make the switch! This update ensures your payouts stay on track and your account stays secure.
How do I know if I need to migrate my bank account?
To keep your payouts cruising along, the system will let you know when it’s time for an upgrade. Here is what to look for:
Look for the "Information required" Prompt: If you need to migrate, you’ll see an "Information required" or "Update" button on your Account page. This is the clearest signal that your connection needs a quick recalibration.
Dashboard Alerts: Your dashboard’s homepage won't leave you guessing! The "Today's activities" section of your dashboard's home page will alert you if there is missing information, prompting you to update your bank account details to keep everything current.
Profile Notifications: Keep an eye on your avatar or initials in the top-right corner. A small alert icon (like a red dot or exclamation point) is a friendly heads-up that your payment info needs a look.
Pro tip: If you are a U.S.-based Host and you haven't touched your bank settings since before December 2020, you’re likely due for this switch. If you don't see any of these buttons or alerts, you're already on the right track!
How do I migrate my bank account?
To migrate your bank account to the new system, you’ll follow a secure path through Plaid and Modern Treasury. This update is currently specifically for our U.S.-based Hosts to provide a more reliable and secure payout experience
Log in: Jump onto Outdoorsy.com or open the Outdoorsy Host app.
Find your settings: Tap your avatar or initials in the top-right corner and select Account.
Navigate to Payment Info: Once you're on the Account page, head over to the Payment info tab
-
Initiate the Migration: Look for and click on the Update or Information required button.
Pro Tip: Check your bookings for any pending payouts first. Before you hit the Update button to migrate, take a quick peek at your pending payouts. If you have money currently in transit, you’ll want to make sure those payouts are fully processed and sitting in your bank account first.
If you notice a payout is stuck due to missing info, simply enter the required details to trigger that payment. Once your balance is clear and you're paid up, you’re all set to cruise through the migration to the new system.
The Connection Flow: Click Continue to cruise into the secure Plaid connection flow, where you'll finish entering your bank details.
I connected my bank account before December 2020. Do I need to migrate my account?
You might be wondering if your current setup needs an upgrade. Whether you need to migrate depends on two things: where you’re parked and when you hooked up your account.
U.S.-Based Hosts: if you’re operating in the States and connected your bank account before December 2020, you’re likely on our legacy system. To keep your payouts cruising along without a hitch, you’ll want to migrate to the new Plaid/Modern Treasury connection.
International Hosts: If your bank account is based in Canada, the UK, NZ, or the EU, you’re all set! You’ll continue using Stripe for your payouts, so no migration is needed on your end.
Recent Setups: If you joined the community or updated your bank info after December 2020, you’re already on the latest tech. You can stay parked right where you are.
