Protection Packages and Claims Filing
If you’ve encountered damage to your rental vehicle valued more than your insurance deductible, or if you are unsure of the value of an insured reservation, please work with the Host as they file the claim through their Wheelbase dashboard.
Key Claim Requirements
To ensure a claim is processed smoothly by Mobilitas, the following documentation and timelines are required:
Filing Window: Claims must be started within 48 hours of the end of a trip from the Ride Host's Wheelbase dashboard.
-
Photo Documentation:
Pre-trip: Must be captured and time-stamped within 24 hours of departure.
Post-trip: Must be captured and time-stamped within 48 hours of return.
-
Guest Statement & Documentation:
Written Statement: A written explanation provided by the Guest detailing what happened during the incident.
Insurance Information: A copy of the Guest's active personal auto insurance documentation.
Police Report: A copy of the official police report (required within 48 hours of discovery if theft or vandalism occurred).
Inspection Checklist: A current 90-day inspection checklist must be completed by the Host and submitted alongside the claim.
How to File a Claim
The formal insurance process is handled collaboratively between you, your Host, and our insurance partner, Mobilitas.
To ensure your photos and documentation are fully claims-compliant and eligible for coverage, proper timelines must be followed:
Document Pre-Trip Condition: Ensure both Host and Guest have captured their pre-trip inspection photos in the Ride app before departure, as these establish the vehicle's baseline condition.
-
Flag and Capture Damage In-App: Guests and Hosts declare any new damage and capture post-trip photos directly in their Ride apps during the digital key exchange.
Note: For claims compliance, post-trip damage photos must be captured and submitted within 48 hours of return to establish valid timestamps and guarantee coverage eligibility. (For app instructions, see: How do I handle the key exchange as a Ride Guest? Help Center article)
Provide Details to the Host: The Guest sends the Host a written statement detailing what happened, along with photo documentation, proof of active insurance, and a copy of any police report (required within 48 hours of discovery if theft or vandalism occurred).
Host Files the Claim: The Host formally submits the claim using the provided documentation through their Wheelbase dashboard.
Wait for Claims Outreach: Once the claim is filed, no separate form is required. A member of the Mobilitas claims team will reach out directly via email to guide both parties through next steps, estimate reviews, and coverage confirmation.
Pro Tip: For an in-depth breakdown of how claims filing works specifically for Guests, visit the What do I need to know about filing an insurance claim as a Guest? Help Center article.
What Happens After a Claim Is Filed?
The claims process with Mobilitas will generally unfold in the following way:
Gathering Information: Mobilitas’ claims team will reach out to request any additional details, photos, or statements needed to move forward with your claim.
The Estimate: While information is being gathered, their appraisal team will prepare an itemized estimate of the repair costs.
Confirming Coverage: Your adjuster will review the statements, documents, photos, and repair estimate to confirm that the incident qualifies as a covered loss under your protection plan.
Deductible and Payment: If the damage is confirmed as a covered loss and a deductible applies, you will be responsible for your selected deductible amount ($500, $1,000, or $2,500) toward the repair costs.
