Outdoorsy is required to collect certain sales taxes in Canada depending on where the rental takes place. At this time, Quebec requires collection of sales taxes, as outlined below. Please be aware that other Canadian provinces may also impose sales tax collection in the future, and that will be documented here, as they are required.
Quebec Rentals
If you rent out your RV in Quebec, Outdoorsy may collect Quebec Sales Tax (QST) from the Guest on charges imposed by Outdoorsy. This includes the renter fee, insurance package, and any other fees charged to the renter that are earned/retained by Outdoorsy. An example of an Outdoorsy-retained fee is Roadside Assistance. The current QST rate is 9.975%.
Impact to Hosts
Outdoorsy may also collect QST by withholding it from your earnings before payout. In order to avoid Outdoorsy collecting QST from your earnings, you must add your QST number to the Taxes tab of your Host account. By adding your QST number, you are asserting that you are an active registrant and are paying QST on your bookings. Outdoorsy is relying on this assertion in order to exempt a Quebec Host's earnings from QST.
