What kind of Guests do you get?
The RV bug is catching on with everyone, everywhere. Outdoorsy draws all types of Guests —from young millennials to retired couples, international travelers, families and sports fanatics— but not every Guest is a perfect fit for your RV.
Remember, you don’t have to accept every request. Talk to the Guest about their experience and plans, and respectfully decline when you feel like another vehicle would better suit them.
Are the charges in CAD or USD?
Any reservations completed for vehicles registered in Canada will be charged and paid out in CAD, even if your Guest travels into the U.S. from Canada.
When I set a weekly rate, how do I know what the nightly charge is?
We encourage all of our Hosts to adjust rates for weekly and monthly rentals; this encourages longer term rentals at discounted rates. We calculate the nightly price by dividing the rate by 7. For example, if you set your weekly rate to $700, the nightly rate displayed to the Guest is $100.
Am I supposed to have a pre-arrival checklist?
It’s a good idea to go through our Guest Pre-Arrival Checklist, which includes the simple tasks you should complete before your Guests pick up your rig. Things like exterior/interior cleaning, tire inspection, system and features check, paperwork, etc.
At what point in the process can the Guest see the Host’s address?
The Guest only sees the pickup address after the reservation has been confirmed on the platform. Until then, the listing only displays the city/state.
Can I include a tow vehicle with my trailer?
Yes, many trailer Hosts on Outdoorsy also offer a tow vehicle with their rental. To do so, we recommend that you add your vehicle as an add-on to your trailer listing so that Guests can select the vehicle during checkout. The only requirement is that your tow vehicle must qualify for our insurance program. See details here.
Can I list anything other than an RV or motorhome?
Yes, other than being able to list an RV or trailer, many Hosts offer accessories such as kayaks, canoes, bikes, scooters, ski equipment and other outdoor adventure gear. (Some will even stock the fridge full of beer upon request!) Make sure you include these add-ons in your listing, so Guests know exactly what’s available.
Follow these steps to create an add-on:
- Select the applicable listing by clicking on Listings at the top of your account
- Click on Add-ons and then Create an add-on
- Create a name and description for your add-on, set the price, and select whether it will be charged up front or paid upon return
- Finally click on Save
Your add-on will now appear at the bottom of your listing so that Guests can select from all the extras you offer!
How do I make my listing stand out?
Great photos and a friendly, informative profile page will work magic for your business. Here are some tips to consider:
Take Great Photos
Photos are the number one way to get a Guest to choose your RV over another. It isn’t enough to show them the outside and the interior: You will want a few photos that tell a story. When a Guest looks at your photos, you want them to imagine themselves in that photograph. Create emotional attachment and your booking rates will go up.
Check out this video where we walk you through the exact photos to take and how to take them.
Provide a Video Tour
Video tours are a stupendous way to help folks really visualize themselves in your rental. We even made this short video to show you the best way to create a virtual tour.
Response Time and Rate
It’s an on-demand world, right? Quick response time to reservation requests and questions will vastly improve your rankings. There’s no penalty for declining reservation requests, but try to give people feedback promptly.
Ask for Reviews
We want to make sure all our members have a great experience on Outdoorsy, so we take ratings and reviews into account when listing RVs.
Favorites and Social Sharing
Listings get a boost when they’re “favorited” by our members and shared on social networks. So don’t hesitate to share your listing to your own social networks (you’ll likely find new Guests there too).
What size should my listing photos be?
A photo is worth a thousand words, which is why it’s important to upload the right dimensions on your listing.
An image 900px wide x 600px high is the largest dimension we allow to be uploaded on a listing. If an image upload is larger than that, we automatically crop it down to those dimensions.
For an image smaller than 900px wide x 600px high, we keep the original dimensions. (For example, if one of your images is only 700px wide, we automatically crop it to 700px wide x 466px high.)

How do I offer delivery to Guests? (U.S. only)
As part of Outdoorsy’s efforts to reimagine the way people access the outdoors, we’ve added the ability for RV Hosts to offer delivery and setup to RV Guests. Whether you drop off your rig at the airport, at the Guest’s home, or at their final destination, the delivery and setup function offers ease and convenience to the RV Guest while adding an extra source of revenue to the RV Host.
Outdoorsy Hosts can activate the delivery feature when listing their vehicle. From your listing dashboard, simply navigate to Manage Vehicles > Pricing.
Insurance coverage for delivery
It’s important to remember that most, if not all, personal insurance carriers will not provide coverage for any business use, including delivery. To that end, we’re thrilled to be the first and only RV marketplace to offer insurance coverage while you are delivering your rig to your Guests, giving you additional peace of mind on top of your $1M liability protection during the booking period. Here are some important details to keep in mind about delivery coverage:
- Comprehensive and Collision: Your deductible during the delivery period will match the Guest's elected deductible per their bundle (e.g. if your Guest chooses the peace of mind package with a $500 deductible, this will be your deductible should you experience a loss during a delivery for that specific booking); please note you as the Host are responsible for the deductible during the delivery period.
- Liability: Your liability coverage will match the minimum financial requirement in the state you are delivering in.
- The delivery must be the same day the booking starts in order to qualify for coverage; if you plan on delivering the night before, the booking must be extended for the extra night through Outdoorsy.
- You must be on the way to deliver your RV to your Guest to qualify for coverage; this means the route directly to the delivery location without additional stops; for example, if you stop for gas along the way you would be covered from your last stop (the gas station) to the delivery location only.
- The delivery driver must be the listed Host in order to qualify for this coverage.
- We currently do not offer coverage for the pickup period (when you pickup the RV after the trip is completed). Since the booking period is over, your personal insurance should cover you on the way home (please note that if your personal carrier denies coverage during your return home, notify us immediately at claims@outdoorsy.com). For great coverage on the ride home, get a free quote from Roamly, our preferred insurance partner.
How do my Guests select roadside assistance?
Roadside assistance is currently included in eligible bookings with a purchased Outdoorsy Protection Package at no additional charge.
Roadside assistance services are provided per the terms and restrictions issued by the roadside assistance provider. In the unlikely event of a breakdown or mechanical issue with the rental during the rental period, Outdoorsy offers Roadside Assistance service with qualified bookings.
If emergency repairs are required, repairs under $200 should be completed and paid for by the Guest. Repairs over $200 must have prior authorization from the Host. Guests must save and submit all repair receipts for review when the rental is returned. Reimbursement will depend on the type of repair and its cause.
